About
From prose, to play.
I'm Baohua (Arno) Fang, a Computer Engineering undergraduate at CUHK-Shenzhen, and a prospective MS / MFA applicant for the 2026 cycle.
I grew up wanting to be a writer. Through middle school I kept a literary blog at hiddenblade.net, publishing fiction, essays, and poetry. Films and games — Death Stranding chief among them — slowly made it clear that text alone could not hold the kind of spatial, interactive expression I wanted. So I crossed over.
My work now sits at the intersection of systemic narrative design, human-computer interaction, and a stubborn engineering background (ACM Multimedia 2025 2nd author). I'm drawn to projects where the mechanic itself is the sentence — where playing a system is a way of being changed by it.
Long-term, my goal is to expand the boundaries of what a game can be — to tell better stories, in forms that only interaction can hold.
